The Star Trek Series | Architecture Photography
Lines and emptiness are the core concept of this Star Trek series. By blending the urban architectural idea with an emotion of urban dweller, you may find a different environment we are living in through the magical photography.
The Star Trek Series
Life in city is full of imagination and ideas. Lighting’s and flashes always drive me to think of isolated constellations and crisscrossed orbits in the darkness of universe. So I come up with the concept of ‘Star Trek’ in the album of modern architecture and human beings, as well as their interactions.
Lines and geometrical surfaces are the basic substances which draw me to a composition of man in the universe. In the first place, I try to conceive the matrix of LED lights as a map of constellations but very soon I find the fluorescent tubes constitute an analogy of orbits of moving stars which are tightly knitted with the human activities below them. The dream of star trek thus emerges to the surface of my mind. The creative process is as intriguing as the images captured by camera.
Life is so fascinating when you are indulged in the capture of external world. Frankly speaking, we are living between windows and doors, ceiling and floor, days and nights all the way in our life. It seems boring but the extraordinary matters are there. Unusual human activities are always buried in a mess of constructions and movements, hence the duty of photographer is to unearth them from the dust to show the imagination of urban dwellers. I feel obliged to tell the viewers of my album about how the people around me live in such a construction of architectural ideas in my place – and their star trek in the city.
